Grace Ciao is known for her collection of sketches of dresses made from real flower petals on paper. By combining a passion for design and a hobby of playing with fresh flowers, the young Singaporean designer has produced many fancy fashion works.
Grace “draws” a dress pattern with fresh petals
Grace graduated with a degree in Business Administration from the National University of Singapore. Along with her passion for fashion and her inherent talents, Grace is currently a young designer managing her own fashion brand in Singapore.
From a young age, Grace loved to play with dolls and often used fabric from old clothes to make new dresses for them. A little older, that hobby also grew and Grace had many new ideas for her works. Instead of just using pencils and paints to sketch, she uses mainly real flower petals with natural colors to illustrate.

The tiny veins along with the soft, natural color transitions on the petals are the highlights that make up the unique beauty of the real flower sketches on paper. She often arranges the petals to create volume for the dress pattern first, then uses the same color watercolors to complete the missing areas.

The blue hydrangeas give the evening dress an elegant and seductive beauty
Lettuce leaves or purple cabbage are also “turned” into splendid skirts
